About Best of River Valley Preps

Join the Times Record as we celebrate and honor the accomplishments of the 2016-2017 All-Star high school student athletes at the inaugural Best of River Valley Preps Awards. The Best of River Valley Preps awards banquet is the Times Record's way of joining the community to honor thousands of outstanding high school athletes, coaches and fans who allow us to share their stories, performances and passions. Presented by the Times Record and sponsored by leaders in business, the event honors the top performers across 15 sports from Sebastian, Logan, Crawford and Scott Counties in Arkansas and Le Flore and Sequoyah Counties in Oklahoma. Awards will be presented to the Outstanding Player of the Year in each sport, as well as Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, and Coach of the Year. There will also be awards for athletes in each of the 15 sports. Best of River Valley Preps athletes are invited to attend for free, and the event is open to family, friends and the general public.

We are proud to welcome Dallas Cowboys running back and former Razorbacks standout, Darren McFadden as our featured special guest. Darren will be live in Fort Smith for a question and answer session about lessons he's learned and memories he's made during his career.

Doors open at 6:00pm. Event starts at 6:30pm. General admission tickets may be purchased for $60. General admission ticket includes dinner, awards ceremony, and presentation by Darren McFadden. General admission seating is first-come, first-served in proximity to speaker.

Best of River Valley Preps is presented by Times Record.

Special Guest

Razorbacks and Cowboys Running Back
Darren McFadden, running back for the Dallas Cowboys and former two-time Heisman finalist for the Razorbacks, will be the featured speaker at the Times Record's 2017 Best of River Valley Preps banquet.
McFadden was the fourth overall pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2008 NFL Draft. Now a Dallas Cowboy, he carries a legacy as one of the top athletes in Arkansas history. A star at Oak Grove High School in central Arkansas, McFadden started with a bang in his freshman year at Arkansas. He ran for more than 1,100 yards and 11 touchdowns. By the end of his first year, he was already establishing records in the SEC as one of only seven players to ever run more than 1,000 yards as a freshman. He was named SEC Freshman of the Year. He continued to dazzle fans and coaches throughout his college career. He claims the honor for the two largest single-season rushing performances in Razorback history for his sophomore and junior years. With a record of 785 carries and 22 100-yard games, he is the most decorated football star in Hog history. For his college career, he claims two second-place finishes for the Heisman, two SEC Offensive Player of the Year awards, two first-team All-American honors and three All-SEC honors, and only Hershel Walker tops his numbers in rushing. McFadden is in his ninth season as an NFL running back. The Cowboys recently re-signed him to a one-year contract. He had other interest but opted to stay with the Cowboys. While injuries have limited some of his star power, McFadden has more than 28 touchdowns, 5,400 rushing yards and 2,100 receiving yards.

Best of River Valley Preps athletes are invited to attend for free and the event is open to family, friends and the general public.

General admission tickets may be purchased for $60. General admission ticket includes a plated dinner, awards ceremony and presentation by speaker. General admission seating is first come, first served in proximity to speaker.
