About 2019 Best of Tusc Preps


Join The Times-Reporter as we celebrate and honor the accomplishments of the 2018-2019 All-Star high school student athletes at the annual Best of Tusc Preps Awards. The Best of Tusc Preps awards banquet is the Times Reporters way of saying thank you to the thousands of outstanding high school athletes, coaches, and fans who allow us to share their stories, performances and passions. Sponsored by DoverPhila Credit Union and East Ohio Orthopaedics, the event honors the top performers in 21 sports. Awards will be presented to the Outstanding Player of the Year in each sport, as well as Male Athlete of the Year and Female Athlete of the Year. Best of Tusc Preps athletes are invited to attend for free and the event is open to family, friends and the general public.

We are proud to welcome one of the best all-time running backs in the NFL, Jerome Bettis, as our featured special guest. The Pro Football Hall of Famer will be live at 2019 Best of Tusc Preps for a question and answer session about his career and lessons he has learned during his years in the NFL.

Doors open at 6:00pm. Event starts at 6:30pm. General admission tickets may be purchased for $50. General admission ticket includes dinner, awards ceremony, and presentation by a celebrity guest speaker. General admission seating is first come, first served in proximity to speaker. Tusc Preps athletes receive a invitation with instructions for claiming your free ticket.

Jerome "The Bus" Bettis

Pro Football Hall of Fame Inductee
The former Pittsburgh Steelers Running Back is one of the best all-time running backs in the NFL (6th overall in rushing). Jerome Bettis was also the recipient of the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award in 2001 and had a Hall of Fame career and has been eligible since 2011.

2006 Super Bowl XL champion Jerome Bettis, one of the National Football League's most popular retired players, the sixth best rusher of all-time and a six-time Pro Bowl selection, Currently Jerome serves as a Studio analyst for ESPN on all their main shows Sports Center, Number Never Lie, and NFL Live. He is also one of the most sought after corporate spokesmen for some of the largest Fortune 500 companies in this country.

"The Bus" finished his NFL career in January 2006 after 13 seasons, retiring immediately following the Pittsburgh Steelers' 21-10 win over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL in his hometown of Detroit.

Bettis ranks Sixth on the NFL's all-time rushing list with 13,662 yards and is one of six players in NFL history to rush for 13,000 yards. He is one of only eight players in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards for eight or more seasons. He ranks third in NFL history with 3,369 rushing attempts. Bettis was selected to the Pro Bowl six times, including his rookie season.
