About Best of The Record Preps


Join the San Joaquin Media Group as we celebrate and honor the accomplishments of the 2016-2017 All-Star high school student athletes at the inaugural Best of The Record Preps Awards. The Best of The Record Preps awards banquet is the San Joaquin Media Group's way of saying thank you to the thousands of outstanding high school athletes, coaches, and fans who allow us to share their stories, performances and passions. Sponsored by Chase Chevrolet, A.G. Spanos Companies, Bank of Stockton, and Dignity Health - St. Joseph's Medical Center, the event honors the top performers from San Joaquin, Calaveras and Amador Counties in 16 sports. Awards will be presented to the Outstanding Player of the Year in each sport, as well as Chase Chevrolet Male Athlete of the Year, Chase Chevrolet Female Athlete of the Year, Chase Chevrolet Team of the Year and Coach of the Year. Best of The Record athletes are invited to attend for free and the event is open to family, friends and the general public.

We are proud to welcome Oakland Raiders Quarterback, Derek Carr as our featured special guest. Derek will be live in Stockton for a question and answer session about lessons he's learned and memories he's made during his career, as well as the Raiders winning Season, their road to the Playoffs, and his rehabilitation and progress.

Doors open at 6:00pm. Event starts at 6:30pm. General admission tickets may be purchased for $50. General admission ticket includes dinner, awards ceremony, and presentation by Derek Carr. General admission seating is first come, first served in proximity to speaker. Seating is limited.

Oakland Raiders Quarterback
Selected in the second round of the 2014 draft by the Oakland Raiders, for the 2015 NFL season, Derek Carr had one of the best statistical season by any quarterback in franchise history. He completed 61.1 percent of his passes for 3,987 yards, 32 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a 91.1 passer rating. Carr finished third all-time in single-season passing yards and touchdowns. He was named to his first Pro Bowl in 2016. Prior to the NFL, Derek attended Fresno State and was one of the most prolific players in school history. His awards and accolades include the Sammy Baugh Award, which goes to the nation's top passer, two-time All-American selection as a junior and a senior, two-time Mountain West Offensive Player of the Year and Academic All-American.
